Fischer once again honored with the "German Design Award"

Another award! "Elise" ring from Fischer Trauringe receives the "Winner" award in the "Luxury Goods" category at the German Design Award

The German Design Award was presented by the German Design Council for the seventh time. The competition sets the highest standards for determining its award winners: the unique nomination process means that only those products that demonstrably stand out due to their design quality are invited to take part.

The beautiful platinum jewelry ring from the wedding ring manufacturer Fischer & Sohn won over the top-class jury. They honored the very high-quality anniversary ring, which was created and manufactured to mark the 250th anniversary of watches and jewelry in the gold town of Pforzheim.

"We are particularly proud of this award in the design sector," said Wolfgang Fischer, owner of Fischer & Sohn, at the award ceremony. "In terms of design, the company has been a pioneer in the wedding ring industry for years. Receiving the German Design Award not only encourages us in the development of our designs, but also recognizes the traditional craftsmanship, for example of our setters and goldsmiths, in combination with state-of-the-art technology."

To the excellent ring:

The jewelry ring made of 950/- platinum, the "royal metal", is part of the Fischer "Elise" collection, which is known for filigree ornaments, an imaginative play with colors and newly interpreted craftsmanship. The collection now comprises around 20 pieces of jewelry and is available from around 65 Fischer jewelry partners throughout Germany as well as in Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Hong Kong and China.
The lively color effect with partly delicately shimmering mother-of-pearl effects, subtle color effects or contrasting colors gives the pieces of jewelry a very expressive look. These colorful accents are achieved using a new type of ceramic-based composite material. This material was originally used in dental medicine and, based on its actual purpose, has outstanding properties in terms of strength and resistance to breakage. The composite material has been further developed and dyed for use in jewelry.

The colored material is applied by hand in several layers to the laser-cut recesses on the ring and then cured in layers under UV light. Not only the insertion of the inlay, but also the setting of the 100 sparkling diamonds and numerous other processing steps are carried out lovingly by hand by the resourceful goldsmiths and setters at Fischer Trauringmanufaktur. Despite numerous manual steps, the product is suitable for serial production. The finished ring is color-fast as well as shock and wear resistant. The innovative material is therefore ideal for the production of rings, earrings and necklaces.

Thoughts on the design of the ring:

The Pforzheim wedding ring manufacturer Fischer & Sohn presents this outstanding anniversary ring to mark the 250th anniversary of the jewelry and watch industry in Pforzheim.
For almost 100 of these 250 years, the Fischer wedding ring manufactory has helped to shape the history of the town and has experienced both the highs and the lows, the endless ups and downs of the golden town of Pforzheim. "Infinite" means beyond any size, beyond any comparison. And that also applies to Pforzheim. A comparable story about the development and historical course of a city is unparalleled.

Taking this extraordinary development as an opportunity, Fischer is reflecting on the 250 years in an equally special ring for the industry anniversary, not only in terms of design - the material is also groundbreaking.

The infinity of the city's history is visualized by the symbol wrapped around the ring. The almost 100 years that Fischer has been shaping the history of Pforzheim are expressed by 100 sparkling, flawless diamonds.

The fine ceramic inlays in this model are in a subtle but expressive lavender blue. Blue also plays a major role in the coat of arms of the golden city of Pforzheim.

The design was created by Peter Birkenmeier, who has worked as head designer for Fischer Trauringe for many years. A quote provides an insight into his creative approach:

"Creative work is a mixture of very time-consuming, consistent, exciting and different work on a specific topic each time - always focused on the perfect result. It's always a new challenge, a constant attempt to express myself without adopting outdated thinking and still have a lot of fun at the same time," says Peter Birkenmeier.

Technical details of the ring:

The ring model 25-37564-070 in 950/- platinum with 100 sparkling diamonds of quality G/If, total 0.516 ct., size 55, costs 7,459 euros at a platinum price of 28.35 euros/g (as of 11.05.2017).
