Production process
Melting/blank production: For our own blank production, the various components of our alloys are mixed as granulate and added for melting. When the material is completely melted, a strand is cast in a round or rectangular profile. This is then rolled and blanks are punched out. Fischer manufactures the blanks itself for almost all the alloys on offer. Only a small proportion of alloys are bought in.
Turning: During the turning process, the ring is given its individual shape and the profile chosen by the customer. The inner rounding of our rings - also known as crowning - is adapted to the shape and width of the model to ensure maximum wearing comfort. The edges are smoothed and the final size of the ring is turned with CNC precision.
Surface treatment: Lasering or milling gives the ring its unique pattern. These can be grooves, furrows or indentations. Depending on the model, the milling is carried out either fully automatically or by manually operating a machine (e.g. diamond cutting). The milling machines are also used to prepare the setting by drilling or milling stone positions and settings.
Setting: In the wedding ring sector, there are a variety of setting types with which the diamonds are firmly anchored in the ring. In most cases, setting is done purely by hand. Like goldsmiths, the profession of setting is learned in a three-year apprenticeship! Fischer Trauringen offers the setting types "rub-in", "channel" and "cut".
Goldsmith: Every ring passes through the hands of the goldsmith. Here, too, you can see how much manual work goes into every single pair of wedding rings. The goldsmith carries out fine work such as filing, soldering, laser cutting and diffusion welding, also known colloquially as sintering (= joining of different colored blanks at high temperature and under high pressure, e.g. for bicolor rings). Finally, the wedding ring is hallmarked/stamped with the FS-Fischer mark.
Polishing: Polishing gives the wedding rings their final surface look. Here, too, absolute dexterity is required! Depending on the wedding ring model, the employees remove some very delicate areas where the wedding ring should remain matt and only polish the intended surface.
Engraving: At Fischer, customers can choose between diamond and laser engraving. Various characters, symbols or even a handwritten text can be integrated into the ring. Finally, all rings are immersed in an ultrasonic bath to remove any remaining production residue and present the customer with a high-quality and visually flawless product.
