Hallmarking

The word hallmarking originally comes from the Latin "punctio", which means "to engrave". In the jewelry industry, this refers to the embossing of a symbol in precious metal. The embossing is applied to the metal with the help of a hammer and a hallmarking iron, a type of motif stamp.

Despite the lack of a uniform legal regulation, it is common practice in Germany to hallmark the fineness (in thousandths). If this is applied to a piece of jewelry, it must also state what was hallmarked.

All Fischer wedding rings bear the hallmark of fineness as well as the "FS" mark, which guarantees the authenticity of the ring and stands for the highest quality 100% "Made in Germany".
